On 11th May 2025, the Nepali Society of Tasmania (NEST) celebrated Mother’s Day (Matatirtha Aunsi) at Pathasala, honouring the deep cultural and emotional significance this day holds in Nepali tradition. In Nepal, Mother’s Day is observed on the new moon of the month of Baisakh and is dedicated to honouring mothers and motherhood.
To mark this special occasion, Pathasala students took part in meaningful and creative activities. Children made heartfelt cards, prepared and delivered short speeches dedicated to their mothers, and offered sweets and fruits as tokens of love and respect. The session also included a short presentation about the cultural roots of Matatirtha Aunsi, helping children understand the festival’s spiritual and traditional significance.
The event concluded with light refreshments and joyful interaction among students, parents, and teachers. It was a beautiful and emotional celebration, filled with love, learning, and appreciation—especially evident on the proud and happy faces of the mothers present.
