On the auspicious occasion of Bijaya Dashami, we joyfully celebrated Dashain by engaging our children in the meaningful tradition of handcrafting kites, each one carrying heartfelt Dashain wishes. Alongside this, the children expressed their imagination and artistic skills by creating beautiful kite artwork, proudly showcasing their creativity and enthusiasm.

In Nepal, the tradition of flying kites during Dashain holds deep cultural significance. It symbolises the arrival of the festive season, the joy of togetherness, and the message sent to the heavens that Dashain has begun. By introducing this cherished practice, we aimed to reconnect our children many of whom were born or raised in Australia with the rich cultural traditions of their homeland.

Through this hands on activity, the children not only experienced the excitement and joy associated with Dashain but also learned the cultural stories and values behind it. This initiative was a heartfelt effort to preserve cultural heritage, strengthen identity, and pass meaningful traditions to the younger generation, ensuring that the spirit of Dashain continues to live on, no matter where they are in the world.
