On 8th March 2025, the Nepali Society of Tasmania (NEST) proudly hosted Tasmania’s first Holi celebration of the year at Tolosa Park, Glenorchy, uniting the community in a joyful festival of colours, music, and cultural pride.
Holi, known as the Festival of Colours, celebrates the triumph of good over evil and the arrival of spring. People from all walks of life and cultural backgrounds joined in the festivities, sharing in the spirit of unity and joy through vibrant colour and water play.
Special guests included Brendan Blomeley, Mayor of Clarence City Council, Jade Li, Chair of the Multicultural Council of Tasmania, and representatives from Glenorchy Police, who celebrated alongside the community.
The event featured an electrifying live concert by the renowned Artha Band and rising stars The Echoes Band, whose fusion of cultural rhythms and rock energy kept the crowd on their feet. Traditional Dheme musical performances, cultural dances, and a popular paan stall added to the authenticity and excitement of the day.
Guests also enjoyed a range of Nepali cuisine from local food stalls, rounding out the day with delicious treats and meaningful connection.
Holi 2025 was more than a festival—it was a vibrant display of inclusivity, cultural celebration, and community engagement, reinforcing NEST’s ongoing commitment to fostering multicultural harmony in Tasmania.
