To celebrate the auspicious occasion of Krishna Janmashtami 2024, NEST proudly hosted a joyful Kids Talent Show on 25thAugust 2024 at the Lindisfarne Community Activities Centre. Organised by the Pathasala Hobart – पाठशाला team, the event provided a vibrant platform for children aged 3–18 to showcase their talents while embracing Nepali culture and language.
As the first cultural event of the term, it set a meaningful and festive tone for the months ahead. The children captivated the audience with diverse Nepali-themed performances including dancing, singing, poetry, storytelling, arts, and even hosting the event themselves.
A key highlight was the strong emphasis on promoting the Nepali language amongst the new generation. Children conducted the program in Nepali, chanted Sanskrit Bhajans, and expressed themselves through creative performances rooted in their heritage. This not only strengthened their confidence but also deepened their connection to their cultural identity.
Dressed as Krishna, Radha, or in traditional Nepali attire, the young participants brought colour and charm to the celebration. A specially decorated Krishna Janmashtami swing (Jhula) provided a beautiful photo opportunity, and the “Best Costume of the Day” award added an element of fun and excitement.
The event brought families together in a heartwarming celebration of language, culture, and community spirit. NEST is committed to continuing this tradition annually, expanding its reach, and fostering inclusivity by engaging multicultural groups while keeping the Nepali language and identity at the heart of it all.
